Dealer Notes

Lamborghini Paramus is pleased to present our 2017 Porsche 718 Cayman. With the new 982-generation, the marketing designation of the Cayman was changed to Porsche 718, a nod to Porsche's racing heritage that won the Targa Florio race in 1959 and 1960. Because the 718 Cayman has lost two cylinders, going from a naturally aspirated flat-6 engine to a turbocharged flat-4 engine, the name is meant to evoke a racing series that was won by a light car which outmaneuvered the cars with more powerful engines. The timeline of the 718 release started in 2016, with first model availability scheduled for June. The 718 base models featured two new horizontally-opposed flat-4 turbocharged engines with increased torque and horsepower along with lower fuel consumption. The exterior of the 718 Cayman is very similar to the third generation, in fact more of an evolution than a redesign. The most notable changes are to the rear of the car, which now has a long black-trim bar across the rear connecting the two taillights. The headlights and bumper are also heavily reworked. On the sides, the mirrors have been redesigned, taking hue from the SportDesign mirrors on the GT3. The main change in the interior is the new PCM 4.0 infotainment system, which replaces the PCM 3.1. The steering wheel comes with a mode selector switch that includes a selection of Sports and Sports Plus driving modes, resulting in snappier throttle response at the cost of fuel efficiency. Overall, the most prominent design features remain, including large air induction ports on the side, and the prominent horizontal aluminum piece used for adding oil and coolant in the trunk. Despite the loss of two cylinders, the 718 Cayman is mechanically superior to the 981 model; acceleration is faster and steering is improved according to Top Gear and Motor Trend. The 718 Cayman was declared Motor Trend's 2nd best Drivers car in 2017, which praised the car's handling and throttle response. Giving the award, Miguel Cortina noted, "The suspension is just what you want to feel in a car like thisstiff, sporty, rigid. You get a very good sense of what is happening on the road." • I pass my exit all the time...

This car gives my heart more exercise than a gym. Seriously. I drive over curvy Highway 17 through the Santa Cruz mountains in California every day and its amazing. I look forward to my commute and Ill pass my exit on a regular basis because its so much fun to drive!. This car corners like a race car. With new 20 inch Michelins, Ive raced a Ferrari and Aston Martin on Hwy 17 and they couldnt pass me because of the corners. Few production cars can match the cornering. Mid-engine, 6 cyl. growl in your ear is like listening to a violin. I have the PDK which has a dual clutch so its quick shifting. And PDK always seems to anticipate my paddle shift and places the car in the correct gear before I can do so. Its amazing. The car is so smart. I also have the heated and A/C seats which work really well. Folding mirrors help with tight parking. Headlights are like eyes and they move with the steering wheel. This car has very little storage room inside but theres a surprising amount of space in the front and rear hatches. Overall, its a beautiful performance car. The best Ive owned and Ive owned many hot cars. The quality is superb as youd expect in a Porsche. The body lines are flowing, especially when you glance at your side mirror and see the curved hip. While this may be one of the least expensive Porsches on the market, I think it handles better than my previous 911, 928 and several Mercedes SLs. Those cars may have a higher top speed but this car just feels better. I think the mid-engine balance makes all the difference. Not sure if Ill ever sell this one. The new 718s have a 4-cyl. turbo which doesnt excite me. I still like 911s but I love mid-engine. My 981 Cayman S model was only made for ~3 years before Porsche switched to 4-cyl turbos in the 718. I think a 981 with the right options is gonna be a future legend. I cant say enough. I LOVE my Cayman S.

I love my 2014 Porsche Cayman base model with PDK transmission. It is beautifully styled, handles like a true sports car should and is a tremendous value for a lightly used car.

Have wanted a Porsche for years. Saw my first car race when I was 16. 1970 Watkins Glen Manufacturer's 6 Hours. Winner: Gulf Porsche 917. They've always been high priced compared to other cars, so always put off buying one. They got me when announcing that the Cayman was going to a 4 cylinder turbo. Pulled the plug and got a guard's red Cayman S manual. Did European delivery and had a blast in Germany, Austria, and Italy (Tuscany) for two weeks. The car is perfect and I wouldn't change a thing. Superb handling, lovely engine power and sound. I just love driving it out in the country early on sunny mornings in the absence of traffic. Have traveled from Maryland to Florida, and also to Asheville NC in total comfort. My favorite car purchase ever, and will likely keep it until old age and/or infirmity preclude my using it.
